Leader of the Twin-Cities-South Bend Jazz Festival Big Band, Bassist Darrel Tidaback, teaches as an associate faculty member at the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University South Bend. Besides being a soloist with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Chamber Singers, Vesper Chorale and the San Antonio Orchestera Pop Series Darrel has also appeared with jazz luminaries Rosemary Clooney, Bucky Pizzarelli, Gene Bertoncini, Mose Allison, Louis Belson, Don Menza, Ernie Watts, John Faddis, Manfredo Fest, Marshall Royal, Chris and Dan Brubeck, and Lionel Hampton to name a few. Darrel also has accompanied Bob Hope, Dionne Warwick, Toni Tennille, Spider Saloff, William Warfield, and Shirley Jones while also performing at the Texas Jazz Festival, Fiesta Jazz Festival, Southwest Guitar Festival, Elkhart Jazz Festival, and the Oregon Festival of American Music. For the past twenty years Mr. Tidaback has been an arranger and performer with the contemporary chamber ensemble Musical Offerings. Darrel has performed on more than twenty recordings including his own Timelines.
The band, made of some of Michiana’s finest musicians will feature orginal songs and arrangements by Darrel Tidaback and Don Lerman.
