Bio

The Groove is full of flavor, blending neo soul, jazz, Latin rhythm and fusion. The band immediately draws you in and takes you on a beautiful trip, where the journey will take unlikely turns toward a surprise destination.

Dawn Burns has been singer all her life. Her vocal style is firmly rooted in the soul, jazz and gospel traditions. Dawn has recorded with the West Angeles Church of God in Christ Mass Choir and Norman Hutchins with Kurt Carr as musical director. Her stylistic range is expressed in performances with Mike Struwin's Rootsdown Band, Darryl Buchanan's soulful Motown/R&B ensembles Babylon Sneakers, Babylon Sneakers (covering the music of Steely Dan) and Fillmore's Ladder, a rock-oriented jam band. She has performed with great musicians: Gladys Knight, Bryan Lubeck, Leo Nocentelli Wycliffe Gordon, and Shanice and has worked with producers including Dave Carlock, Ron Wynans and David Foster.

The Groove is: Jamie Pawelski, guitar; Buddy Pearson, bass; Brendyn Cane, drums; Dave Green, percussion, Terrell Ross, keys; and Dawn Burns on vocals.
